Baroque Project. Melal Boutique Mall, Tehran, Iran 2023

Baroque jewelry store is located in Melal boutique in Tehran. When this project was suggested to our studio, the first thing that caught our attention in the space was the dimensions and proportions of this project: a small space with high height and low depth. At first, we heard the client's wishes and our challenge was how to fit all the items in this small space and at the same time properly consider the aesthetics and interior architectural elements. Things like: having a lot of space for product display in different parts of the store, product depot outside the showcase, sales and display counter, location of packaging, space for catering and waiting equipment, etc.

Many studies and etudes were done according to the conditions and demands of the client in the design process and we came to the conclusion that our emphasis should be on the height of the store and to use this feature properly (both for use and for form and beauty). According to the conditions of the project, we decided to make the space symmetrical, especially in the shop windows. With this approach, visual pollution is reduced and visual diversity is also reduced to a minimum, thus increasing the focus on the desired points.

In addition, this approach did not cause the loss of visibility to the interior of the store, and the showcases still maintained their use. After symmetrization, the main forms of the space were formed and it was time to go to color and material. Harmony in colors and space was the result we reached. This small space needed to have no redundant and extra elements, but it lacked something that would emphasize the space and be iconic. Usually, in these cases, the presence of an artistic element can help projects like this, and at the same time, we wanted that element to be distinctive, but not so much that it affects the merchandise and sales. Finally, we arrived at the "transparency" solution. We wanted an element that was clear and distinct. Therefore, we got the help of an artist who specializes in glass volumes and a volume was designed for that space. After making the replica, the original volume with real dimensions was built and installed, and that day we celebrated the birth of Baroque.
